Coffee and Conversation: Partnering with Student Accessibility Services to Support Your Students In-Person

Join the Student Accessibility Services (SAS) Team for Coffee and Conversation!  This informal session designed specifically for faculty, is one where we’ll explore how Student Accessibility Services (SAS) partners with instructors to support students with disabilities. This session provides an overview of LCCC’s Student Accessibility Services processes, plus practical insights into how to best support all students.  You’ll also have the opportunity to hear from Student Accessibility Specialists who will provide tangible tips on how to refer students to SAS, as well as plenty of time to ask your own questions during our open discussion time.

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Outline the process SAS uses to determine student accommodations.
  • Differentiate the roles and responsibilities of faculty, students, and SAS in the accommodations process.
  • Recognize examples of common and less typical accommodations for students at LCCC.
  • Identify strategies for implementing accommodations within your own courses
  • Describe how to refer students to SAS using clear and supportive language.
  • Locate SAS and eLearning resources that support faculty.

Come with your questions and curiosity and we will facilitate the conversation!
